TAKEAWAY SAVER PRIVACY POLICY (PROMOTION + PRICE PROMISE + WALLET + ORDERING)

This Privacy Policy explains how Dept of Digital Ltd (company number 12556517) of Westminster House, 10 Westminster Road, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK10 1BX (trading as “Takeaway Saver”) (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses personal data when you use Takeaway Saver.

Which part of Takeaway Saver are you using?
Takeaway Saver includes different pages and features. Your data may be used differently depending on what you do:

  1. Promotion/Referral pages (offers, rewards, “spin to win”, referrals)
     

  2. Price Promise pages (shop listings and links)
     

  3. Wallet features (unlock/save shops and store offers/rewards)
     

  4. Ordering pages (placing an order with a takeaway/restaurant (“Merchant”))
     

If you place an order, your order is with the Merchant. The Merchant’s own privacy policy applies to the Merchant’s handling of your order, fulfilment and customer service and (where applicable) marketing.

  1. Who is responsible for your data?
    Promotion, Price Promise and Wallet features
    For promotion/referral pages, Price Promise pages and Wallet features, Takeaway Saver is an independent controller of personal data processed to operate these features (including security, fraud prevention, analytics, and improving the service). Participating Merchants are responsible as independent controllers for deciding what offers to run and for honouring offers, and may receive limited information from us where necessary to validate eligibility/redemption and prevent misuse.
     

Ordering pages
When you place an order, the Merchant is the controller for personal data used to take and fulfil your order (including customer service). Takeaway Saver acts as a processor for the Merchant by providing the ordering technology and processing data on the Merchant’s instructions. We may also process limited data as an independent controller where necessary to keep our systems secure and prevent fraud/abuse and to troubleshoot and maintain the service.

  1. What data we collect
    We may collect:
     

  • Identity and contact details you provide, such as your name, email address and phone number.
     

  • Promotion activity, such as offers you view/claim, spins/entries, codes/outcomes issued, eligibility/validation checks and audit records.
     

  • Wallet data, such as shops you unlock/save, offers or rewards stored in your Wallet, and related timestamps, status and expiry information.
     

  • Price Promise interaction data, such as which shop listings you view or click and related timestamps.
     

  • Technical and usage data, such as IP address, device type, browser, operating system, cookie IDs and similar identifiers (where used), pages viewed, clicks, referral source and timestamps, and approximate location (based on IP).
     

  • Support and complaint data, such as messages you send us and any information you include when reporting an issue.
     

Payments
Payments are handled by the Merchant and/or their payment provider. We do not store full card numbers.

  1. What we use your data for
    We use personal data to:
     

  • operate the Promotion Site features, Price Promise pages and Wallet features, including issuing codes/outcomes and showing your unlocked/saved shops and stored offers/rewards;
     

  • apply limits and prevent fraud, misuse and automated/bot activity, and maintain audit logs;
     

  • secure, maintain and troubleshoot the service and fix technical issues;
     

  • provide support and handle disputes or complaints;
     

  • analyse performance and improve the service and user experience;
     

  • personalise what you see (for example prioritising saved/unlocked shops or showing relevant offers based on your activity);
     

  • send marketing by email and/or SMS if you opt in; and
     

  • run remarketing ads if you accept advertising cookies.
     

Outbound links to Merchants
Price Promise pages may link you to a Merchant’s ordering page/site. When you click through, the Merchant’s own privacy policy will apply to what happens on their site. We may record that a click happened (and basic related information such as timestamp and device) to run the directory, prevent misuse and measure performance.

  1. Legal bases
    We rely on the following legal bases under UK GDPR:
     

  • Contract / steps you request: to provide features you choose to use (for example issuing an offer outcome/code and operating Wallet features).
     

  • Legitimate interests: to operate, secure and improve the service, prevent fraud/abuse, maintain logs and understand performance (balanced against your rights).
     

  • Consent: for email/SMS marketing where you opt in, and for optional analytics/advertising cookies where you opt in.
     

  • Legal obligation: where required by law.
     

  1. Marketing and permission
    Takeaway Saver marketing (VIP deals)
    If you opt in, we may send you Takeaway Saver marketing by email and/or SMS about offers, rewards, Price Promise/Wallet updates and participating takeaways. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in emails, the opt-out method in SMS (e.g. STOP), or by contacting us. We may keep a minimal record of opt-outs (for example email/phone) on a suppression list so we respect your preferences.
     

Merchant marketing (optional)
Where offered, you may also be given the option to opt in to receive marketing directly from participating Merchants. If you opt in to Merchant-direct marketing, we may share your name, email address and phone number with participating Merchants so they can send you offers by email/SMS as separate controllers. You can unsubscribe from each Merchant at any time. Where Merchant-direct marketing is offered, we will present this choice separately and clearly. We keep records of your marketing choices (what you agreed to, when, and how) to comply with the law.

  1. Who we share data with
    We may share personal data with:
     

  • Our affiliates: we may share personal data with companies within our corporate group (our “affiliates”, meaning entities we control, are controlled by, or are under common control with Dept of Digital Ltd) for internal business purposes such as operating and improving the service, customer support, fraud prevention, security, analytics, administration, and compliance. Where you have opted in to marketing, our affiliates may also send you marketing or assist us with marketing, in accordance with your preferences and applicable law.

 

  • Participating Merchants: we may share limited information with the relevant Merchant where necessary to administer promotions/offers and Wallet features, verify eligibility/redemption, prevent fraud/abuse, measure performance of promotions and resolve disputes. If you opt in to Merchant-direct marketing, we may share your name, email and phone number with participating Merchants for that purpose.
     

  • Service providers: companies that help us run the service (hosting, security, analytics, communications tools such as email/SMS providers, and customer support tools). They must protect your data and only use it to provide services to us.
     

  • Advertising/analytics partners: only where you consent to the relevant cookies.
     

  • Legal/regulators: if required by law or to protect rights, safety and prevent fraud.

If our group structure changes, we will update this Privacy Policy to reflect our current affiliates.

We do not sell your personal data. We may receive fees from Merchants for promotions or customer acquisition. We do not share your contact details with Merchants for their own marketing unless you opt in to that separately.

  1. Cookies and remarketing
    We use cookies and similar technologies. Some are strictly necessary to make the site work and help keep it secure. Optional cookies may be used for analytics and advertising/remarketing.   2. Retention
    We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, including operating promotions, Price Promise and Wallet features (including audit logs), fraud prevention and security, support/dispute handling, and marketing until you unsubscribe. We may keep some information longer where needed for legal claims or compliance.
     

  3. Your rights
    You may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability (where applicable), and to object to certain processing. You can withdraw consent at any time (where we rely on consent). You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
